Andrew G. Gianoukakis, M.D., Face

President

Is the President of HAMDS. He has served on the HAMDS board of directors since 2008. Dr. Gianoukakis is a Professor of Medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is the Chief of the Harbor-UCLA Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism where he also serves as the Program Director of the Endocrinology and Metabolism training program, Thyroid Clinic director as well as director of the Thyroid Research Unit. His interest and research focuses on thyroid disease and thyroid cancer and he has published multiple peer review articles and book chapters in these areas. He is the Primary Investigator on multiple cutting edge clinical trials, bringing new therapeutic options to patients with advanced thyroid cancer.

George J. Kallins, M.D.

Treasurer

Is a medical and real estate entrepreneur in Orange County, California, currently President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at ACP Management Company. In addition to his business and commercial pursuits, Dr. George Kallins continues his medical work as a practitioner in the Obstetrics and Gynecology field. During his involvement in the medical field, George J. Kallins, M.D. authored the book Five Steps to a PMS Free Life, which touches on mood disorders that affect a percentage of women. He also founded The Village Healer Press and published his book through the company. He is also the Medical Director at the University of Southern California Center for Women’s Mood Disorders. Dr. George Kallins additionally founded Medical Management Resources, a medical billing and management company for which he also served as CEO. Furthermore, he devoted a portion of his entrepreneurial and medical career to managing Mission Obstetrics and Gynecology, a 14-physician medical group that he established, in the capacity of President and CEO.

E. Mike Vasilomanolakis, M.D.

Secretary

Is a past president and current secretary of the Hellenic-American Medical and Dental Society of Southern California. He is an Interventional Cardiologist in Long Beach. Dr. Vasilomanolakis trained at the University of Illinois Medical School with residency training in Internal Medicine at Rush Presbyterian-St Lukes Medical Center. His cardiology training was at the University of California Irvine. He is currently Chief of Staff and Director of Cardiology at the Community Hospital of Long Beach. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Western University of Health Sciences. Dr. “Mike” is a serial recipient of the “SuperDocs” designation in the Los Angeles Magazine and is a Grammy Winning Executive Music Producer.

Ioannis Giannikopoulos, M.D.

Attended the University of Athens Medical School, Greece. First-year postgraduate training was received in Internal Medicine at Grant Hospital, Chicago, Illinois (1976-1977); Residency Program completion in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Illinois (July, 1977 – June, 1979). He completed a fellowship in the Division of Gastroenterology at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Illinois (July, 1979-June, 1981). He was a Research Associate, Hektoen Institute for Medical Research, Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Illinois with major in Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD) and Prostaglandins; Dr. Giannikopoulos was the Chief of Gastroenterology at Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science, King-Drew Medical Center, Department of Medicine. He has been affiliated with King-Drew Medical Center since December, 1983.

James G. Kallins, M.D.

Was born in Arcadia, Greece. He graduated Medical School from the University of Athens with distinction. He then came to Chicago to pursue his Residency, working in Obstetrics and Gynecology, along with Surgery and Pathology at Little Company of Mary Hospital. Also, spending time at University of Illinois and taught Ob-Gyn there for one year. Dr. Kallins had a long and successful career as a medical professional, practicing from 1959 until his retirement in 1997. He was an original founder of the Hellenic American Medical Society, and has also been a pillar in the Greek American Community of Southern California.

Dr. Kallins has also been an ardent supporter of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis, Archdiocese and Ecumenical Patriarchate. As an Archon in the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Dr. Kallins has served as a Regional Archon Commander for the Metropolis, coordinating several events to heighten the awareness of the struggle for religious freedom by our Mother Church. He has also served on the Metropolis and Archdiocesan Councils, and as the Supreme President of the Pan-Arcadian Federation.

Sotirios Tetradis, D.D.S., Phd

Is Professor and Senior Associate Dean, UCLA School of Dentistry. Dr. Tetradis received his DDS from the University of Athens, Greece and a certificate in OMF Radiology and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Connecticut Health Center. He has been on the faculty at the UCLA School of Dentistry for the past 19 years and currently he is a professor and the Senior Associate Dean. Dr. Tetradis also serves as the Advisor of the DDS/PhD combined degree program. He is a board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist. He leads an active research group that investigates the effects of growth factors, hormones and cytokines on the function of bone cells, as well as the cellular and molecular mechanisms of osteonecrosis of the jaw.
