In 1986, the first tribute dinner-dance was held in honor of S. James (Sparky) Vamvas, M.D., Professor Emeritus of the USC School of Dentistry and Oral Surgery. This bi-annual tribute dinner-dance, which honors a Hellenic physician, dentist or community activist represents the main source of funding for the scholarship fund.
