Biography
Dr. Katrina M. Vlachos is a board certified doctor of physical medicine and rehabilitation who specializes in preventative orthopedic health and rehabilitation. She focuses on a conservative, non-surgical treatment of orthopedic and neurological disorders with an emphasis on exercise-based approaches. In addition, she offers patients who suffer from chronic tendonitis and other musculoskeletal injuries the treatment of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy) that use platelets, which are naturally found in blood, to help speed up tissue healing.
Dr. Vlachos also employs alternative techniques and medications to restore function and improve quality of life. She has over 10 years of experience working closely with orthopedic and neurological surgeons.
At the University of California, Irivne, Dr. Vlachos was a member of the Women’s Division I volleyball team for four years. She graduated in 1991 with a B.S. in biological sciences and subsequently attended the St. Louis University School of Medicine. In 1995, she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was nominated to the prestigious Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Following an internship at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, she completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Michigan Health Systems.
As a former scholar-athlete, Dr. Vlachos is dedicated to alleviating pain brought about by any sports-related injury. She emphasizes preventative orthopedic health programs embracing a multi-disciplinary approach to treat pain and educate on body mechanics and strengthening to maintain a pain-free status.
